If you're looking for a contemporary and stylish hotel rooms in a quiet, discreet location, and don't need a huge amount of space, the Five is for you.

Rooms

Rooms combine cozy and high-tech features such as fiber-optic fairy lights above the beds and in the bathrooms, fluffy duvet comforters, original Chinese lacquer artworks, and 400 satellite channels on flat-screen TVs. All rooms have free wireless Internet and L'Occitane toiletries. You also get to choose your custom room scent, which perfumes the air from a diffuser. The Luxury Superior room features a bed suspended from the ceiling. The ground-floor suite is a bit more traditional in decor but much larger in size. It has a private Jacuzzi patio, as well.

Average rooms are not large enough for spreading out with your three overstuffed suitcases, but are perfect for a weekend getaway or even a romantic tryst. In fact, the Five is quite the popular destination for couples, and even have their own "social networking" site, Five Spirit, so clients with similar tastes (in hotels, at least) can get to know each other.

Facilities

The Five has a small but cozy lobby with a fireplace that is being expanded in 2010 to accommodate a larger breakfast area. The current one downstairs is not big enough to hold all of the guests who have discovered the hotel's above-average breakfast spread: fresh pastries, fresh fruits salad, cereals, yoghurts, ham and cheese, salmon, fresh orange and grapefruit juice, different types of coffee and gourmet "Mariage Frères" teas.

Neighborhood

The hotel is on a tiny side street close to the Jardins du Luxembourg and the Rue Mouffetard market street. It's considered a pleasant residential district on the edge of the Latin Quarter, but without the hoards of tourists too close. The closest metro is about three blocks, but through a very safe neighborhood of cinemas, cafés, banks, and food shops. The RER station is slightly closer for convenient access to the airports. There are several good bus lines, such as the 83 which goes to the Champs-Elysées, just outside the hotel.  Don't miss the amazing Franco-Japanese pastry shop Sadaharu Aoki next door, or My-Tho, the delicious Vietnamese restaurant around the corner.

Staff

The staff are very friendly with a family-run feel (turnover is rare in this hotel), and the owner Philippe is on site regularly to make sure all of the guests are happy.

Rates

Internet rates are as low as €99/single, €114/double.
