A stylish, eco-friendly boutique hotel on a quiet street just off the Arc de Triomphe.
The Atmosphere
Love and respect for the environment and guests' comfort are behind every detail in this boutique hotel opened in 2009 a block from the Arc de Triomphe and Champs-Elysées. They don't claim to be an "organic" hotel, but when the original building was completely gutted, the new hotel was completely rebuilt using only natural, handcrafted materials such as rough hewn wood, stone, slate, glass and ceramic.
Rooms
Rooms have open-plan bathrooms (toilets are in a separate room) in black slate and marble, with organic toiletries in recycled packaging, flat screen TVs and free WiFi. Best of all are the heavenly Coco-Mat bed-mattresses, made from 100% organic, raw materials for isometric body support, and pure linen sheets for a blissful night’s rest. Like the bathrooms, the closets are open, and many rooms place the bed right in the center with gauzy linen curtains around it. If you are sharing a room and want more privacy, be sure to let them know when booking, as certain rooms have the bathroom around the corner so you can't see the person showering from the bed. There is no minibar in the bedroom, so if you need one, this isn't your hotel.
Facilities & Service
To the right of the lobby is the bar and reading lounge, with two seating areas. The one with the long tables is used for breakfast, which features a gourmet spread of breads, cheeses, smoked salmon, fresh fruit and fruit juices, hot drinks, jams and Nutella spreads, cereals and yogurt. The front desk staff man the bar at night, and can also recommend nearby places to eat or order meals. They are very friendly and helpful, and take their reputation very seriously (if you have a problem with your room, they do everything they can to make you happy).
Neighborhood
The Hidden is on a quiet, one-way street one block from the Arc de Triomphe (aka Place de l'Etoile). The entrance to the metro and RER station for Charles de Gaulle-Etoile is just around the corner, as is the bus stop for the Air France Coach to the airport. Around the hotel are many small restaurants and convenience stores. On the other side of the Arc de Triomphe is the Avenue des Champs Elysées, with its shops, cinemas, restaurants, bars, nightclubs and sightseeing. A few metro stops south is the Eiffel Tower, a 10 minute-metro ride to the center takes you directly to the Louvre and Hôtel de Ville. If you like the glitz and posh atmosphere of the Champs Elysées, this is the perfect neighborhood for you. If you imagine the narrow, winding streets of Medieval Paris with little food markets and cheap places to eat street food, you should choose a different location.
